The Upload Form

1. Basic Info

  • Name:Choose a fitting name for the entry.
  • Files:Upload one or more files in a proper format. When uploading more files at once, they will have identical attributes, only the file name and the unique identifier will be different. After upload, it is possible to edit the entries individually.
  • Type (Raw/Processed):State whether the uploaded spectrum had been processed by background/noise removal or not.
  • Note:The following specifications are all optional.

2. Instrumental Parameters

  • Spectral resolution:Enter the average distance between the points on the spectrum, in reciprocal centimeters.
  • Spectroscopy type - RS, SERS/TERS, CARS, SRS, FT-RS:Select which experimental configuration you use.
  • Excitation wavelength, excitation intensity, and exposure (integration) time:Enter the acquisition parameters.
  • Instrument (spectrometer):Enter the manufacturer and the type of your Raman spectroscope.
  • Acquisition date:Note when the spectrum was taken.

3. Sample Properties

  • Composition:You may write down the sample composition and /or select from tick-boxes: Pure substance/Mixture/Biological material, and Solid/Solution/Gas
  • Sample-defining notes:There are yet more sample-defining notes, such as: pH, concentration, temperature, species, age/time, and cell/tissue type
  • Sample image:Here, you can upload one or more images of your sample. Please, use only as much photographic material as absolutely necessary, not to overwhelm the system.
  • Note:This is a space for both general and specific remarks which do not fit any of the preceding definitions. For example, there can be a short overview of the experimental approach and goals, notes regarding the public use of the specific spectrum, etc.

4. Referencing and Sharing

  • Keywords:One or more terms, separated by semicolon, which define the character of the spectrum, sample, experiment, etc.
  • Reference DOI/URL:Here add the DOI or URL of the associated research paper, which contains the spectra in question, or results derived from them. This information serves to track the owners of the data, in order to seek their approval in case it is desirable to republish them or their part in your own publication.
  • Unique Identifier of the Spectrum:A unique identifier is a 6-character long alphanumeric string that is associated with each spectrum in the database from the moment of its upload. You will always find it just under the name of the database entry, both in the list of spectra and in the detailed view of each spectrum. When you wish to share some of your spectra with selected colleagues, note their unique identifiers, share them with your colleagues (e.g., by email), and set the privacy level of those spectra to “searchable.” Your colleagues will access these spectra by entering the unique identifier (or several, separated by commas) in the “Search” field in the Raman Base navigation bar. No registration necessary.
  • Privacy degree:Raman Base allows you to freely switch between three levels of privacy for each of your personal spectra: Private (only visible to you), Limited (visible in similarity-search results but not downloadable), or Public (visible and downloadable by other users).
