Mgr. Zdenek Pilat, Ph.D.

The founder of Raman Base

I have a background in molecular biology, physical engineering, and chemistry. My Ph.D. thesis focused on Raman spectroscopy, optical trapping, and microfluidics. Currently, I am a researcher in the group of Biophotonics and Optofluidics at the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno. Experimental science is also my main hobby. I witnessed the molecular revolution firsthand, which helped me realize that effective data sharing and retrieval would bring similarly mind-blowing progress to Raman spectroscopy. With this vision, I assembled a team and acquired funding to make Raman Base the dream come true.

I am a software developer with over 5 years of experience, primarily focusing on backend systems while maintaining proficiency in frontend development. My journey combines technical expertise with scientific background, holding a Master`s in Biomedical Engineering. I`ve explored the intersection of software and science through my work with AI/ML models and biomedical applications. Here at Raman Base, I lead a development that is revolutionizing the sharing and analysis of Raman spectroscopy data.

I am a process engineer in the R&D department of a Japanese corporation in the chemical and rubber industry. I enjoy learning Python, with a focus on Django, Pandas, Seaborn, and Scikit-learn, where I am aiming to build practical skills. Ramanbase has provided me with an opportunity to connect both worlds, allowing me to gain experience in both industrial process engineering and programming. It has also helped me break out of my routine, challenging me to learn new skills. I truly appreciate the vision and goals of this project.
